What does FilledTummy do?

FilledTummy is a non-profit organization based in Pune, that works towards the goals of Zero Hunger and Zero Food Waste. We collect leftover food from events, restaurants and civilians, and provide it to the hungry and deprived. We approach the issue of hunger with four steps: Get In Touch, Quality Check, Locate and Deliver.

Who started FilledTummy?

Archit Palshikar, 16, started FilledTummy after being moved by the condition of labourers travelling back to their hometown on foot due to no work and food during the COVID-19 pandemic. He envisioned that the donation of excess food enables a vital, yet often wasted, resource to be used to its full capacity.

How is FilledTummy different from others organizations?

FilledTummy accepts donations only in the form of food, and not monetary means. We encourage volunteering by donors. Everyone visiting our website can play their part by helping us find locations where people are suffering from hunger. We are transparent with our work and let the donors know where their food has been provided.

Why does FilledTummy accept donations only in the form of food?

We accept donations only in the form of food to make sure that leftover food reaches from one door to the other. This leaves no chance for any malpractices and assures donors that their food reaches people in need.

Do you provide packing material for the food donations?

Yes. We collect leftover food from your doorstep, check the quality and our volunteers package it in eco-friendly food-grade material at center. We provide eco-friendly cutlery so that the needy can avail directly.

What cities do you currently operate in?

FilledTummy was started in 2020 and so far we are operating only in Pune. Our network is increasing every day and we hope to soon expand our services to nearby cities and hopefully nationwide eventually.
